The Mansell House and Gardens is a Queen Anne-style home that was constructed in 1912. It is located in Alpharetta, GA. It was built by Robert Mansell of South Carolina. He built it for his wife, Maude Dorris. It is a farm house that was built from pine trees that were located on the site. The Mansell home has 12 foot ceilings, heart pine floors, and a fireplace in each of the six rooms.
Earl Mansell, one of Maude and Robert’s children, along with his wife Lillian Shirley Mansell, raised their four sons in the home. The Mansell family were primarily cotton farmers. Originally, the house was located on the family farm in old Milton County where the present day Mansell Road exists now. The home was donated to the Alpharetta Historical Society by the Herman Miller Company and moved to its current location in 1993.
The Mansell Home is filled with period antiques and surrounded by gardens and sits near the Wills Park pool, off Old Milton Parkway. The Mansell House and Gardens is a gorgeous venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions, bar/bat mitzvahs, rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, showers, meetings, holiday parties, and more. The Mansell home offers a private and quaint setting with spacious rooms that are perfect for any special event.
The Mansell House offers both outdoor and indoor locations for ceremony and reception. The garden contains a gazebo, arbor, and stone porch. The beautiful historic home has a wrap around porch and gardens for event photographs. A hostess is provided onsite for events. The Mansell House contains award-winning gardens that are created and maintained by the Alpharetta Garden Club. The decor inside the home includes period antiques and accessories throughout the home.
The Mansell House can be rented from 10:00 am to midnight. Guests renting the home are allowed to bring their own caterers. Alcoholic beverages may be brought to the venue, however, the City of Alpharetta must be contacted for a liquor permit. The Mansell House has refrigerators, a stove, a microwave, kitchen sink, and a caterer’s entrance. In addition, 60 black padded metal folding chairs, as well as tables are provided. Tents should be rented from an outside company. Tents are allowed on the patio. The arbor and gazebo do have electrical outlets.
