The Cooler is a sports center in Alpharetta, Fulton County, Georgia, that offers hockey and ice skating lessons and teams. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced skater, there is something available to you at The Cooler.
The Cooler offers “Learn to Play” Hockey. There are 4 levels of hockey lessons for students 4-12 years old that are offered by the Cooler Hockey Academy. The coaches are USA Hockey certified and offer many years of experience in skating instruction. Classes are run in an 8 week semester that consists of 16 lessons. They meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sign up to the 8 week 16 lesson program includes socks and a team jersey as well. All players must have the required hockey equipment and a stick. The required hockey equipment includes an HECC approved helmet, HECC approved full facemask, shoulder pads, gloves, internal mouth guard, shin pads, athletic support and protective cup, stick, and ice hockey pants. In addition, all players must register with USA Hockey before joining the class.
After the “Learn to Skate” and “Learn to Play” programs, beginner players will graduate into The Atlanta Fire House Development Program. This program competes in the Atlanta Youth Hockey League and will compete against surrounding rinks in Atlanta. This program continues to develop the advanced player.
The Cooler and the Atlanta Fire Hockey Club is home to players and families while players pursue their youth hockey career. The Atlanta Fire Hockey Club provides a competitive practice schedule for all their travel hockey teams.
Beginning and competitive figure skaters are offered the perfect training environment by The Cooler. There is a staff of professional coaches that are all members of the Professional Skaters Association. They are ready to teach skaters of all levels and are dedicated to continuing education. The Cooler is the home rink of the Atlanta Figure Skating Club and is also the home of Atlanta’s best Learn to Skate program.
The Cooler offers public skating sessions as well. Their website provides an updated calendar of the public skating times each day. It costs $10 for public skating session. The cost of skate rental is an additional $4. Discounted rates are offered for children and seniors.
